Aemstelhuys is ideally located in the heart of the city and just 20 meters from the Amstel River. Located in what is known as the "Great Waterloo District" which contains six of Amsterdam's most important cultural sites; the Hermitage museum, Jewish Historical museum, Portuguese Synagogue, the Music Theater the Hortus Botanicus and Rembrandt's House.
A five minute walk along the banks of the Amstel will bring you to the Magere Brug. The views from this well known bridge are stunning. Turn left from Aemstelhuys and you will be on Amsterdam's main canals at the Seven Bridges and Rembrandtplein. The No 4. tram stops at the end of the street and crosses the centre of Amsterdam to the Central Station.

Carré Theatre
Just across the Amstel River from Aemstelhuys is the Royal Carré Theatre. Circus director Oscar Carré opened his Circus Theatre on the Amstel River in 1887. Since then Carré is a theatre not only for circus but for musicals, plays and concerts and is the most illustrious theatre in the Netherlands.
